Report: Jason Kidd, Lloyd Pierce expected to be among Celtics' head-coaching candidates

The Boston Celtics are already undergoing massive changes just one day after being eliminated from the playoffs with a 123-109 Game 5 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

Danny Ainge has stepped down as Celtics President of Basketball Operations, and head coach Brad Stevens is taking over the vacant front-office position.

With Stevens now in charge, the Celtics need a new head coach. According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and former Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce are expected to be among the Celtics' head-coaching candidates.

Kidd entered coaching after a Hall of Fame career in the NBA. He went 44-38 with the Nets and won a playoff round in 2013-14, but Brooklyn traded his coaching rights to the Milwaukee Bucks after one season.

Kidd then led the Bucks to a 139-152 record across three-plus seasons, leading Milwaukee to the playoffs twice. He has spent the last two campaigns as an assistant with the Lakers, who won the NBA title last season.

Pierce, meanwhile, was fired by the Hawks in March after a 14-20 start. The Hawks went 49-100 in Pierce's first two seasons with the team. He has also worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers.
