According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Utah Jazz are not expected to trade guard Collin Sexton.

Sexton’s strong play as of late has taken him off the trade block.

“Collin Sexton is often cited with them, but the latest indications relayed to me suggest perhaps he shouldn’t be,” Stein wrote in his latest NBA post on Substack. “Sexton’s play as a starter has been among the keys to Utah’s 17-9 rebound from a 7-16 start. League sources have this week described Sexton as more unlikely than likely to be moved; he’s averaging 21.6 points and 5.5 assists in 26 starts while shooting 50.4% from the field and 41.7% from 3-point range.”

Sexton is averaging 17.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 48.3% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc and 87.7% from the free-throw line. He’s making $17.3 million.

The Jazz are 24-25 on the season. They are in 10th place in the Western Conference standings. Sexton, 25, has a plus-minus of +11. He signed a four-year, $70.9 million contract in 2022.

The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Sexton, according to NBA insider Dave McMenamin of ESPN, but it sounds like the Jazz are going to keep the talented young guard, who plays hard on both ends of the floor consistently.

Sexton, who is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, has career averages of 18.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Jazz. Utah acquired Sexton from Cleveland in the blockbuster Donovan Mitchell trade.
