Kawhi Leonard has been spotted limping at times during the postseason, and the assumption previously was that he was still experiencing discomfort related to the quad injury that forced him to miss almost the entire season with the San Antonio Spurs last year. While that is not the case, there may be a link between the issue he is having now and the one he had then.

According to Joe Vardon and Sam Amick of The Athletic, Leonard has been dealing with a left knee injury that is the result of overcompensating for his injured right quad. His quad is apparently feeling good now, but the soreness in his left knee is a lingering effect from dealing with the original injury.

Leonard has been outstanding during the Toronto Raptors’ NBA Finals run, and the team has refused to go into detail about why he has been spotted limping a few times. However, teammate Danny Green recently let the cat out of the bag when he made a comment about what Leonard has been playing through.

Whatever the case, the knee injury does not seem serious. Leonard scored 34 points in Sunday’s Game 2 loss to the Golden State Warriors, and he is averaging 30.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game during the postseason. If this is him playing at less than 100%, we can only imagine what he’d be doing if the knee wasn’t bothering him at all.
