Report: Lakers emerge as 'serious suitor' for Marc Gasol
The Los Angeles Lakers are already having a pretty good offseason, adding Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder and Wesley Matthews. Apparently, they aren't done bringing in new talent.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Lakers are emerging as a "serious suitor" for three-time All-Star Marc Gasol.
The 35-year-old is coming off one-and-a-half seasons with the Toronto Raptors, helping the club win an NBA title in 2019. Gasol wants to return to Toronto, but a number of title contenders are reportedly interested in his services, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets.
At this point, adding Gasol seems like a priority for the Lakers after they lost veteran center Dwight Howard to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. The Spaniard averaged 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last season with the Raptors.
If Gasol joins the Lakers, it would be the talk of the town as his brother, Pau, spent seven seasons in L.A. and helped the team win two NBA titles alongside Kobe Bryant.
