Lamar Odom. Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Lamar Odom was involved in a car accident last week, but fortunately it does not appear anyone was injured.

A representative for Odom told TMZ that the former Los Angeles Lakers star crashed his Mercedes into two parked cars when he was driving home from a friend’s house in Northridge, Calif., early Monday morning. The airbags deployed, but Odom was not injured and did not require medical assistance.

When Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene, Odom explained that he had dropped his cell phone and lost control of his car when he reached down to retrieve it. When asked if he had been drinking, Odom explained that he is sober and told police about his Odom Wellness Treatment Centers in California. No field sobriety test was performed.

No one was inside the parked cars at the time of the crash. Both owners came out of their residences and were given Odom’s insurance information.

Odom has a long history with drug and alcohol addiction, which is why any report of him getting into a car accident raises additional concern. In this case, police had no reason to suspect he was under the influence.
