Report: Mo Bamba 'likely' to leave Magic in free agency

Former No. 6 overall pick Mo Bamba is coming off of the best season of his four-year NBA career — spent entirely with the Orlando Magic — and is now reportedly looking to cash in via free agency.

The Magic won the 2022 NBA Draft Lottery earlier this week, and two of the prospects who are commonly being thought of to be the top overall selection this year are Auburn forward Jabari Smith and Gonzaga big man Chet Holmgren.

Bamba posted career highs across the board during the 2021-2022 campaign, averaging 10.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.2 assists and 25.7 minutes per contest across 71 games (69 starts), while his shooting line of .480/.381/.781 was the best in his four seasons as well. Bamba's 118 blocks ranked him fifth in the NBA during the regular season.

For his career, the center has averaged 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 18.6 minutes per game across 226 contests.
