Report: NBA players union gathering information about season restart
On the same day NBA Hall of Famer and Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley declared he's "100 percent sure" the 2019-20 season will finish amid the coronavirus pandemic, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski provided additional proof the Association may be inching closer to playing games in July.
On Monday afternoon, Wojnarowski tweeted that National Basketball Players Association executive director Michele Roberts is completing calls to gather feedback from players regarding the season's completion:
On Friday, Wojnarowski reported that some teams may wish for players to immediately report to "bubble sites" such as Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando or Las Vegas once the union and Association owners agree to terms for playing out the remainder of the campaign that's been suspended since March 11.
One topic likely to be discussed among players is if teams that were realistically out of the championship hunt on March 11 will have to finish their seasons and play games that are largely meaningless to athletes who, understandably, may not be thrilled about quarantining away from their families with nothing of merit on the line.
Wojnarowski and others have suggested players may need to self-isolate for up to 14 days before the league can commence training-camp sessions ahead of the campaign's resumption or the start of a postseason tournament.
