Report: NBA season in 'jeopardy' after postponements
The NBA restart at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to crown a 2019-20 champion could experience severe delays or be canceled.
Three games scheduled to take place on Wednesday were postponed after the Milwaukee Bucks remained in their locker room ahead of a Game 5 contest versus the Orlando Magic. Milwaukee's decision to boycott that game came in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot at least seven times by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday.
Blake survived the shooting but is reportedly paralyzed.
Contests involving the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Portland Trail Blazers were also called off.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted today's developments may be the beginning of a larger movement:
NBA personnel who remain inside the temporary hub have been isolated for over a month and a half. Family members will be welcomed into the bubble once the first round of the playoffs fully concludes.
Currently, Thursday's NBA schedule exists as:
Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz: 4:00 pm ET
Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors: 6:30 pm
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks: 9:00 pm
Decisions and announcements on those games could be made late Wednesday night.
Previously, members of the Raptors and Celtics had discussed boycotting Thursday's outing.
