Report: Pistons 'highly likely' to hold onto No. 1 pick, draft Cade Cunningham

It appears the Detroit Pistons will hold onto the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft. 

According to The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor, the Pistons are "highly likely" to just stay put at first overall and take Oklahoma State's Cade Cunningham. O'Connor adds that teams believe Cunningham will go first whether or not there is a trade involving the pick.

The Houston Rockets own the second overall pick and "would love" to select Cunningham, but that's not going to happen unless they can swing a deal with Detroit. 

Cunningham is considered the top available prospect in the draft. The 19-year-old averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game during his freshman season at Oklahoma State while shooting 43.8% from the field and 40% from deep. 

The first overall pick could set the Pistons up for the next decade, so it's no surprise they're ready to stand pat and select Cunningham, who is at the top of nearly every scout's draft board. 

The real question is what the Rockets will do with the second overall pick. Will they select Jalen Green or Evan Mobley? Only time will tell.
