Capela's basically asking the Rockets "where's my money?" Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Clint Capela and the Houston Rockets do not appear to be anywhere close to agreeing on a long-term contract extension.

Capela, a restricted free agent, is reportedly seeking a contract somewhere in the range of the four-year, $80 million deal fellow restricted free agent Zach LaVine has agreed to with the Chicago Bulls. According to Kelly Iko of Rockets Wire, Houston offered Capela roughly half of that deal.

Capela, 24, averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game last season, leading the league with a 65.2 field goal percentage. He’s clearly worthy of a big contract, but the Rockets don’t have much cash to spend after they signed Chris Paul to a four-year, $160 million deal.

With how far apart Capela and the Rockets seem to be in negotiations, the recent report we heard about the big man’s offseason plans makes a lot of sense.
