Report: Timberwolves to re-engage with Rockets about P.J. Tucker trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves are surrendering an NBA-worst 54.7 points per game in the paint and would benefit from adding a defensive-minded player.

According to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, the Timberwolves have re-engaged the Houston Rockets about a trade for P.J. Tucker. The news comes after James Harden's recent departure to the Brooklyn Nets.

Tucker, who is on an expiring deal, has reportedly been unhappy with his contract situation in Houston and a trade to the Timberwolves could greatly help Minnesota's defense.

In 10 games this season, Tucker is averaging six points, 4.6 boards and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 52.6% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc.

According to The Athletic's Kelly Iko, multiple teams have expressed interest in Tucker, so the Timberwolves have some pretty stiff competition for his services.
