Report: Warriors assistant Mike Brown interviewing for Pacers HC job

The Indiana Pacers are looking for a coach to replace Nate McMillan after the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs courtesy of the Miami Heat. While there are a numerous amount of candidates for the position, another person has put his name into the ring.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Brown is interviewing for the Pacers coaching job.

Brown was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005 to '10, leading the team to the NBA Finals during the 2006-07 campaign. He then coached the Los Angeles Lakers for a little over a season before being fired during the 2012-13 campaign after the team started 1-4. Brown joined the Warriors as an assistant in 2016, replacing Luke Walton, who departed for a head coaching position with the Lakers.

During the 2016-17 NBA playoffs, Brown led the Warriors to a 12-0 record in Steve Kerr's absence, culminated by an NBA championship.

The Pacers relieved McMillan shortly after the club was swept by the Heat. Indiana went 45-28 and finished as the Eastern Conference's fourth seed but struggled to control the talent of Miami without Domantas Sabonis, who missed the series with a foot injury.

McMillan spent four seasons with the Pacers, leading them to the playoffs in each of those campaigns. However, the team lost in the first round in each of the last four seasons.

The Pacers also are expected to consider former Houston Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni for their open coaching position.
