According to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Golden State Warriors and Klay Thompson don’t want to part ways this summer.

Thompson becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The 34-year-old wants to re-sign with the Warriors and spend his entire career with one organization.

“This doesn’t necessarily mean it is time to leave the Warriors, as neither side wants this to happen, league sources informed ClutchPoints,” Siegel wrote.

Thompson is averaging 17.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season while shooting 42.6% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 91.7% from the free-throw line. He’s making $43.2 million.

The Warriors drafted Thompson with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Washington State. Thompson has made five All-Star teams, two All-NBA teams and one All-Defensive team with Golden State.

“Remaining with the Warriors is still at the forefront of Thompson’s mind, sources said, even though this may be the last chance in his career to pursue a large contract on the open market, given his name and history,” Siegel wrote.

Thompson has often said he wants to retire with the Warriors, who have won four championships in the Thompson-Stephen CurryDraymond Green era. Even though Thompson is not the player he once was, it would shock numerous people around the NBA if the Warriors didn’t re-sign the sharpshooter.

“Klay’s not going anywhere,” one NBA executive predicted while chatting with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “The Warriors can’t let him walk. He’s a four-time champion, and they can’t really replace him. At some point, if a player isn’t getting the job done and still wants to play as he gets older, you’d come off the bench, and he’s doing that while playing better. Maybe they tie his deal to Steph’s. Klay’s value is in the $20-25 million range.”
