Rapper and record producer Rick Ross is a long-time Miami Heat fan. He has often attended the Heat home games. So when the topic of ownership comes up, Ross definitely wants his hand in the pie.

Rick Ross spoke with former Miami Heat players Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller on their show, The OGs Podcast. When Haslem asked Ross about his intention to purchase the Miami Heat, this is what Ross replied:

That's the dream. For somebody from the city to come up and earn that. Rick Ross via The OGs Podcast

Halsem mentioned that Rick Ross probably had his foot in the door. Both intent-wise and money-wise. Ross mentioned it would also be good for the city to see a person who has come up to where he is right now to be a part of the franchise. Ross has, time and again, remained a part of the Heat culture. Regularly, he talks with players and the coaching staff. Ross is a social being, attending various parties in the US.

Rick Ross currently has a net worth of $150 million. It would not be enough to buy the Heat outright. But a minority ownership would also mean the world to Ross. Having his name on the ownership list of one of the best franchises in the NBA is definitely a dream.

The Miami Heat is an expansion franchise that hit the top

The Heat started their NBA journey as an expansion franchise in 1987. After initial years of mediocrity, the Heat was purchased by current owner Micky Arison. Since then, the Heat have catapulted to be one of the most respected franchises in the league. Under the leadership of Pat Riley, the Heat has remained one of the juggernauts since the mid-2000s.

They won their first NBA championship in 2006. In 2012 and 2013, they won back-to-back titles under coach Erik Spoelstra . Under the tutelage of Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley, the Heat have been synonymous with success. Regularly making it to the playoffs and contending with grit and desire is the Heat’s image.

For the long-time fan, being a part of this storied franchise would be a dream. Rick Ross, a Florida native, would like nothing less.
