NBA enthusiasts have keenly anticipated Anthony Edwards‘ playoff performance, particularly after his impressive regular season.

Edwards did not disappoint, delivering a stellar performance on Saturday with 33 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a victory over the Phoenix Suns in the opening game of the first round.

Edwards’ prowess has caught the eye of none other than basketball legend Michael Jordan. Stephen A. Smith reported that Jordan remarked, “That brother is special,” in reference to Edwards’ capabilities.

Edwards, who has been a standout since his first overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft, truly excelled this season. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 46.1% from the field during the 2023-24 season, playing a pivotal role in elevating the Timberwolves’ game.

This season, the Timberwolves emerged as the third-best team in the Western Conference, boasting a 56-26 record, showcasing their evolution into a formidable contender.

As the playoffs continue, Edwards is poised to elevate his game further, potentially drawing more accolades from basketball’s elite, including Jordan. Edwards, alongside other young talents like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is frequently mentioned as one of the league’s future frontrunners.

Following his impressive start in the playoffs, if Edwards maintains his performance level, he could very well lead the NBA into a new era.

The Timberwolves are gearing up for Game 2 against the Suns on Tuesday night, with fans and pundits alike eager to see if Edwards can replicate his “special” performance.
