After the Philadelphia 76ers made a blockbuster move for James Harden at the trade deadline, more changes could be on the horizon come the summer.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported this week on “The Hoop Collective” that rival executives are already thinking about what kind of offers they might make for Sixers forward Tobias Harris this offseason. The apparent expectation is that Harris will be available for trade.
The 29-year-old Harris is one of Philly’s leading scorers and rebounders, averaging 18.3 points and 7.2 boards per game this season. However, in the wake of Harden’s arrival, Harris has become the No. 4 option behind Harden, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. With two years and $77 million left on Harris’ contract after this year, that is a lot of money to be paying a fourth banana.
Harris has legitimate 20-point-per-game abilities and is a player the Sixers considered moving even before Harden touched down. That apparently makes Harris a very intriguing trade target in the eyes of rival teams.
