Rockets decline Avery Bradley's $5.9 million team option

The Houston Rockets declined Avery Bradley's $5.9 million team option for 2021-22, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Bradley and the Rockets mutually agreed to part ways this summer, Charania adds, and the veteran guard is expected to attract interest from contenders and teams he previously played for.

The Rockets acquired the two-time NBA All-Defensive team selection from the Miami Heat last season. He averaged 6.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game during the 2020-21 campaign while shooting 37.4% from the field.

In addition to the Rockets and Heat, Bradley has also played for the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.

The 30-year-old had some of his best seasons with the Celtics but didn't win an NBA title until 2020 as a member of the Lakers.

While Bradley will draw interest this summer, he certainly isn't the top free-agent point guard available. Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley, Lonzo Ball, Spencer Dinwiddie and Dennis Schroder are among the top PGs available.
