In a fortunate turn of events, Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun dodged a major injury after a concerning incident on the court, providing major relief to both his team and the NBA.

Sources revealed to ESPN that Sengun suffered a significant ankle sprain and a knee bruise to his right leg but fortunately avoided any injuries that would necessitate surgical intervention.

The incident unfolded during the closing moments of the Rockets’ victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. Sengun was promptly attended to and later subjected to X-rays and an MRI the following day. The tests confirmed that while his injuries were serious, they were not as dire as initially feared.

Despite the relief, the 21-year-old’s return to the court is still under consideration. With the regular season ending on April 14, Sengun faces a race against time for recovery, given the significant healing required for his injuries, according to sources.

Sengun’s performance this season has been nothing short of stellar, solidifying his position as a key player for the Rockets. Selected as the 16th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, he boasts an impressive average of 21 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, with a shooting accuracy of 53%.

The volume of production Sengun has provided the Rockets joins him in the ranks of superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Domantas Sabonis, and Nikola Jokic, all of whom have surpassed the 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 300 assists milestone this season.

Highlighting his exceptional talent, Sengun recently set a personal best with a 45-point game against the San Antonio Spurs, marking him as the fifth player in history to achieve at least 45 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 steals in a single game.
