Rockets have reportedly held discussions with free-agent point guards

The Houston Rockets are in need of a point guard after The Athletic's Shams Charania reported the franchise plans to trade veteran John Wall this year.

Houston has already begun looking for replacements, holding discussions with several free-agent point guards, according to Charania

The Rockets and Wall agreed to a trade after seeing "eye-to-eye" on the direction of the franchise. Houston intends to build around a younger group, and Wall, who is entering his 12th NBA season, doesn't fit the bill.

After returning from knee and Achilles injuries last season, Wall averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 40 games while shooting 40.4% from the field and 31.7% from deep. He would be a solid addition for many teams across the league.

It's unclear who the Rockets have spoken to this offseason. However, Avery Bradley, Frank Ntilikina, Brad Wanamaker, Matthew Dellavedova, Jeff Teague and Nico Mannion are among the names still available, according to Spotrac.

The Rockets had a disappointing 2020-21 season, finishing last in the Western Conference with a 17-55 record. The franchise is hoping to change that during the upcoming campaign with a mix of young faces and a few seasoned veterans to guide them along the way.
