The Houston Rockets' Las Vegas Summer League run may not have ended in a title, but several players likely helped their career opportunities overseas or in the NBA.

The league made a change this offseason, adding an extra two-way spot to each roster. This means there are 30 new jobs as two-way players in the league.

The Rockets had several players showcase their abilities and make cases as to why they should get a two-way spot. USA Today named Rockets sharpshooter Matthew Mayer as one of 10 Summer League standouts worthy of a role in the NBA.

"Mayer was a solid catch-and-shoot threat for Houston and made multiple 3-pointers in each of his appearances during NBA Summer League. He should have a place in the league given his size," USA Today writes.

Mayer shot 43.5 percent from distance and averaged 12.5 points per game during his Summer League run, numbers that should jump off the page for inquiring NBA teams.

The Rockets have just one two-way spot available as Trevor Hudgins and Darius Days currently occupy two of the three contracts. If Houston doesn't offer him a deal, it's certainly possible for another team to step in.
