Nerlens Noel is coming off a season where he played in 17 regular season games for the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons.

He averaged 2.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest but only averaged 11.5 minutes of playing time.

On Friday, the Sacramento Kings officially announced that they had signed the nine-year NBA veteran.

Via The Kings : "The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has signed center Nerlens Noel. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed."

In addition to the Nets and Pistons, Noel has also spent time with the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers (he was initially the sixth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Kentucky).

His career averages are 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per contest while shooting 54.6% from the field in 467 regular season games (he has also appeared in 17 NBA playoff games).

While Noel never became an All-Star, he has been an extremely talented rim protector and defender.

On July 18, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the details of Noel's deal.

Via Wojnarowski: "Free agent C Nerlens Noel has agreed on a one-year, $3.1M deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agent @georgelangberg of GSL Sports Group tells ESPN. Noel gives the Kings a defensive presence in the frontline rotation."

As for the Kings, they are coming off an impressive season where they went 48-34 and finished as the third seed in the Western Conference.

They made the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season but lost in the first round to the Golden State Warriors in seven games.
