Portland Trail Blazers draft pick Scoot Henderson Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Scoot Henderson reveals thoughts on No. 3 selection, sounds off on one prospect

From watching the 2023 NBA Draft and hearing the comments made by new Portland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson, he seems to feel great about his new team. More specifically, he doesn't seem to care at all about the fact that he went No. 3 overall, behind the locked-in No. 1 selection in Victor Wembanyama and also No. 2 pick Brandon Miller out of Alabama.

The pre-draft reports and rumors on Henderson's and Miller's likely draft spots essentially went back-and-forth over the last week as new rumors poured in. But when the Blazers' newest playmaker addressed his landing spot — and Williams being selected at No. 2 by the Charlotte Hornet — he was candid about having no issue being passed on by two teams. He even praised Brandon Williams and his fit in Charlotte.

Via ESPN's Tim Bontemps:

"Not at all," he said. "I'm glad to see Brandon go there. I'm pretty sure it's a great fit for him. That's how I move. I move with love. I'm not mad that I didn't go 2 or I didn't go 1. I'm blessed to go 3, and to be here with my family with me."

Henderson seemed genuine in being thrilled to hear his name called, and there is a chance that he could team up with Damian Lillard to create one of the most intriguing and talented backcourts in the NBA. Time will tell whether or not that's how things play out for the Blazers, but regardless, Henderson is entering a situation where he will either play with Lillard or have a ton of weapons surrounding him should the All-Star guard ask the team to trade him.

Whichever way it pans out for the 19-year-old guard, it's not tough to agree with him that Miller is a great fit for the Hornets. In that same line of thinking, Henderson with the Blazers makes more sense than the Hornets adding him next to another young early draft pick guard in LaMelo Ball.
