The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their 18th game of the season, this time to the Miami Heat in embarrassing fashion, 110-96. The final score may not be indicative of the statement above, but the numbers behind them prove it.
Nonetheless, these two franchises are no strangers to the bright spotlight and share many of the same greats. Of course, LeBron James is the most apparent parallel there, but you also have the Pat Riley aspect. Riley, the former head coach of the '80s Showtime Lakers, is the president of the Miami Heat and has been since 1995.
He's led Miami to great success like he did in his time in Los Angeles. Some former Showtime Lakers visited their former head coach during the game on Wednesday.
Lakers legend and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson posted a photo with his former head coach alongside champion guard Byron Scott and forward Kurt Rambis.
It was a reunion like none other, and I'm sure neither of them ever miss the opportunity to catch up and reminisce on the good ole days. In nine seasons as the Laker head coach, Riley led the purple and gold to four championships at the helm, a 533-194 record, and a winning percentage of 73.3%. The joy they brought to the fan base and championships will forever be in Laker lore. The three players, Johnson, Scott, and Rambis, played crucial roles in the team and gave their all for the city and the organization.
It's great to see them all together once again. Unfortunately, it ended in a Laker loss, but it's always great to see Laker legends together again.
