Social media reacts to Spurs winning Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes

It's all but official. On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the San Antonio Spurs will draft Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-5 teenager many are hailing as the best NBA prospect since LeBron James—and potentially the best prospect ever.

The Spurs won the lottery in more ways than one. There's no doubt about that. Consider the fact that the Detroit Pistons finished the season with the league's worst record (17-65) and they fell all the way to pick No. 5. That could have easily been San Antonio, but the Ping-Pong balls bounced the Spurs' way and Gregg Popovich now has a chance to coach yet another franchise-altering big man.

Move over Tim Duncan, Victor Wembanyama is the new face of San Antonio basketball.

The internet reacted accordingly.

San Antonio, you're on the clock.
