With the 2023 NBA free agency period almost upon us, there have been loads of rumors coming at us at high rates of speed. There are plenty of good players available this offseason and quite a few teams looking to make big moves to take a step towards contention. One of those teams is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who could be a serious player for Cleveland Cavaliers’ free agent wing Caris LeVert.

According to one source, the Timberwolves are “very interested” in LeVert. He appears to be one of their top targets and many believe they have a good chance to end up landing him.

LeVert is certainly an intriguing target for the Timberwolves. He is a more than capable scorer, although he has found it difficult to find a long-term home. There are consistency issues, but for a team like Minnesota that wants to add more offensive firepower, he could be an ideal fit.

During the 2022-23 NBA season with the Cavaliers, LeVert ended up playing in 74 games and started in 30 of those appearances. He averaged 12.1 points per game to go along with 3.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds. In addition to those averages, he shot 43.1 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.2 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show why the Timberwolves have such interest in LeVert. He can score the ball at a high level and also create for teammates. Creating is a part of his game that he must be more consistent with, but all the skills are there.

Minnesota has been an intriguing team to watch over the last few years. Rumors have been running rampant that Karl-Anthony Towns could be traded for years now. However, the Timberwolves have opted to not make that move and have tried to grow their roster build around Towns, Anthony Edwards, and Rudy Gobert.

Adding more help on the wing is a must and Caris LeVert would be able to take some pressure off of Edwards. He would add a big scoring punch off the bench as well, which has been sketchy at times for the Timberwolves.

While there will be other teams with interest in signing LeVert, the Timberwolves are a very serious contender. He is a name to monitor closely as free agency gets underway in a few days.
