Since entering the NBA in 2017, swingman Cedi Osman has been synonymous with the Cavaliers.

He even had his picture taken during a workout that consisted of LeBron James (then with the Cavs), Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard. Yes, it was those three … and Osman.

That came after Osman’s rookie season, and he certainly had his moments in Cleveland. But his inconsistency drove both the fans and coaching staff crazy. Nonetheless, he became an organization favorite in many ways.

Still, the Cavs looked for trades and Osman drew interest. This offseason, they finally pulled the trigger on a deal, sending Osman to the Spurs in a three-way arrangement that delivered Max Strus from the Heat to Cleveland.

The Cavs felt it was time to move on. And frankly, so did Osman, who will now team with No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio.

“I was looking for a new chapter for myself,” Osman told reporters. “Obviously, I had a great six years with the Cleveland Cavaliers — great teammates, great coaches, great front office. Everybody was great.”

Osman said he learned via social media that he had been traded. He added that he welcomed the news.

“It was time for a new chapter,” he reiterated. “After I was traded to San Antonio I was really excited. We have a bright future and I’m really looking forward to being with the guys on the floor.”

Osman, 28, averaged 8.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 77 games last season, shooting 45 percent from the field and 37 percent on 3-pointers. He is expected to help solidify a wing position that also includes the likes of Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Ohio State product Malaki Branham.
