Right now the San Antonio Spurs are literally the worst team in the West with a very rough and shocking 6-18 record.

They have recently lost to the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, and just about every other team in the NBA.

Yes, the chances of the Spurs even coming close to the playoffs this season are all but gone.

This is going to be a year best forgotten by the many loyal fans of the Spurs.

But it might also end up being a very important one for the team’s future.

Two fans arrived at the Spurs game the other night wearing custom-made jerseys.

The first said “Tank” while the other had the last name of Victor Wembanyama, who the Spurs could end up drafting if they get the first overall pick in the 2023 draft.

Now that 2022-23 is pretty much toast with little chance of things turning around, fans of the Spurs are hoping for the worst because an awful winning record at the end of the season could pave the way for the French prospect who might chance the entire league next season.

Time To Tank?

The Spurs and head coach Gregg Popovich will never say they are tanking but that might be their best course of action right now.

The biggest stars on the team right now include Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jakob Poeltl, and others.

They are good, up-and-coming players but they aren’t really going to land huge All-Stars in a trade.

Therefore, a good draft pick is really the future of the team and Wembanyama is the biggest pick of them all.

He will surely be the number one draft pick and can immediately change the fate of the squad.

At this point, the Spurs have a great chance of getting him – and fans are salivating at the thought.
