The Spurs have signed center/forward Mamadi Diakite to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.

Diakite, 26, is 6-foot-9 and appeared in a career-high 22 games with the Cavaliers last season. He has also spent time with the Thunder and Bucks since entering the professional ranks in 2020.

Diakite won an NCAA championship with Virginia (2019) and an NBA championship with Milwaukee as a rookie (2021).

He most recently has spent time with the Westchester Knicks of the G League, appearing in 19 games this season and averaging 8.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. He will wear No. 29 in San Antonio.

Per the Spurs’ release:

“Originally from Conakry, Guinea, he went undrafted in 2020 after spending five years at the University of Virginia where he helped the Cavaliers capture the 2019 NCAA National Championship as a redshirt junior and was named 2019-20 ACC All-Defensive and All-ACC Second Team as a redshirt senior, averaging 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 30 games (all starts).”
