The Spurs have waived forward Stanley Johnson, the team announced in a press release.

They are now expected to convert the two-way contract of center Charles Bassey to a standard deal, per Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News.

Along with those moves, the Spurs don’t expect enter Khem Birch to be available to play until after next weekend’s All-Star Break, McDonald added. Birch, acquired in a deadline trade with the Raptors, has a pre-existing knee issue, per McDonald.

Johnson, 26, is 6-foot-6 and appeared in 30 games with the Spurs, averaging 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds, shooting 53 percent from the field and 45 percent on 3-pointers.

He signed with San Antonio in December after being waved by the Jazz before the season. Johnson was acquired by Utah as part of the trade with the Lakers involving guards Talen Horton-Tucker (from Lakers) and Patrick Beverley (from Jazz to Lakers).

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, he has also spent time with the Pistons, Pelicans and Raptors.

Bassey, 22, is 6-11 and was originally selected by the 76ers with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has appeared in 24 games with the Spurs, averaging 4.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.

The Spurs signed him to a two-way contract in October, shortly after he was waived by the Sixers.
