Stephen Curry becoming worldwide face of NBA

Everything is coming up Steph in the current NBA bubble. And now, it looks like the appeal of the defending league MVP is going global.

According to a report from CBS Sports, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is rapidly becoming a worldwide poster boy for NBA basketball:

According to the largest online retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise, Fanatics.com, Curry is the top-selling NBA player and the Warriors are the top-selling team. Compared to the start of last season, sales of Curry's jersey are up 581 percent and sales of his merchandise is up 453 percent this season. Curry's two top-sellers are his white trophy banner swingman jersey and a Warriors royal blue number #30 tee.
Curry is even popular worldwide as his merchandise has been sold in 26 different countries. In the United States, Curry is top-selling NBA player in 38 states.

It's no big shock that the Warriors are the top-selling team, after a roster full of marketable characters took home the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy last season. But it doesn’t come as too big of a surprise that the reach of Curry’s celebrity is so expansive either, particularly after it was reported over the summer that sales of Curry jerseys surpassed that of LeBron James’ jerseys. He is also marketable off the court, serving as the long-standing “Men’s Brand Ambassador” for Express and making cameos in several TV commercials, including one of the newest iPhone ads.

You can add to that the defending champion Warriors have opened up their season 10-0 with Curry leading the NBA in scoring, averaging 33.3 points a contest.

With credentials like that, who wouldn’t want to rock a No. 30-emblazoned jersey?
