Stephen Curry thinks Celtics' Jayson Tatum is a 'supreme talent'

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is finally beginning to develop some consistency this season after a battle with COVID-19.

The 23-year-old still takes an inhaler before games, but that didn't stop him from compiling 44 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 119-114 win over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. His performance earned the praise of Stephen Curry, who said the Celtics star is a "supreme talent."

"I just told him he's super tough, man," Curry said, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. "You can tell the game has slowed down for him, just in the way he picks and chooses his spots and how he kind of manages the game. He's shooting the ball a lot better from the perimeter, but when that game slows down, I don't know if it's four or five years in, whatever he is, that's when you become lethal.

"With your skill set, his size, their system features him, so he's a supreme talent. Supreme talent."

Tatum's 44 point night comes just eight days after he notched a career-high 53 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In his last five games, the two-time All-Star is averaging 34.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 53.8% from the field and 48.3% from deep.

This is arguably Tatum's best stretch of the season and it has the Celtics fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 31-26 record. Boston was previously seventh in the conference after being one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA to begin the year.

The Celtics are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have won six straight. One of Boston's biggest tests of the season will come next week when they face the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets.

If Tatum continues to shine, they should remain in a good position.
