Stephen Curry's record three-point streak can't be touched for years

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry's record of 268 consecutive regular season games with a three-pointer ended Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Dubs still defeated the Blazers, 118-104, and Curry's all-time mark has no shot of being touched until at least midway through the 2025-26 season.

Nobody is even halfway to the two-time MVP's incredible record, and with Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks at barely over 100 games in a row, he's got a long way to go to threaten Curry's streak.

Even the best outside shooters in league history have off nights, so Lillard's run could easily end before the calendar turns to 2024. For argument's sake, if Giannis Antetokounmpo's co-star not only played in every one of his next 168 regular season contests and made a connection from deep in each game, he wouldn't pass Curry for another couple of years.

Milwaukee has 56 games remaining in the 2023-24 regular season, meaning that the highest Lillard's streak could be next spring is 157 contests. If "Dame Time" somehow played in and made a three-pointer in all 82 regular season games in 2024-25, he'd still be short of Curry's mark at 239.

That means at a minimum, Lillard would have a shot at passing Curry 30 games into the 2025-26 campaign, which would perhaps be around Christmas 2025. NBA fans shouldn't count on that.

Prior to Sunday, Curry had last failed to make a shot from beyond the arc in the regular season over five years ago on Nov. 8, 2018. He also has the second-longest three-point streak at 157 games.
