Steve Kerr used a question about the up-and-coming Minnesota Timberwolves team to take a potshot at the squad’s Aurora Green uniforms.
The Golden State Warriors (38-10) will welcome the Timberwolves (31-19) at Oracle Arena on Thursday night for a showdown between two top Western Conference teams. When asked what he has seen out of the Wolves thus far this season Wednesday, Kerr unleashed a savage blow to Minnesota’s new neon-greenish “Statement Edition” unis.
“I’ve seen some really ugly uniforms,” Kerr said, as transcribed by Dime Mag. “The lime green, the neon lime green?”
Along with a remade roster highlighted by bringing in Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Jeff Teague, among others, the Timberwolves also unveiled a significant “New Era” re-branding this past offseason under the tagline, “All Eyes North.” The Aurora Green jerseys were among the updates. The dramatic green is explained as “emblematic to the Minnesota environment and the vibrance of the Northern Lights.”
Jersey trash talk aside, Kerr did pay the T’Wolves a nice compliment.
“Not a huge fan,” Kerr said. “But the team’s good. The team’s better than those uniforms. They’re tough and they’re getting better every night.”
Just leave the unis back in the Twin Cities, Kerr presumably prefers.
