The Phoenix Suns will host a free agent workout on June 28 featuring forwards Jabari Parker and Stanley Johnson, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT . Parker didn’t play at all this past season, while Johnson appeared in 30 games with the San Antonio Spurs.

Parker was the second overall pick in the 2014 draft out of Duke. He was projected to be a star for the Milwaukee Bucks. However, the Chicago native tore his ACL twice and was never able to develop into an All-Star.

The 28-year-old Parker has career averages of 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists with the Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Boston Celtics. He went to the same high school (Simeon) as former MVP Derrick Rose.

Meanwhile, Johnson was the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Arizona. He has career averages of 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers and Spurs.

The Suns acquired All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards. They now have a Big 3 of Beal, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Haynes is also reporting that center Deandre Ayton is not expected to be traded anymore.

Ayton didn’t have a good relationship with former Suns head coach Monty Williams. Phoenix’s front office believes new head coach Frank Vogel will be able to connect with Ayton better than Williams did and help the Arizona product be more engaged on both ends of the floor on a consistent basis.

Phoenix needs depth around Beal, Durant, Booker and Ayton. It will be interesting to see who they sign once free agency starts on June 30. Right now, they only have eight players under contract.

The Suns lost to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games.
