In not-so-surprising news, the Magic have made guard/forward Terrence Ross available in trade discussions ahead of Thursday’s NBA Draft, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Orlando had been seeking a first-rounder in exchange for Ross and his expiring $11.5 million contract at the trade deadline, Scotto wrote. But opposing teams are hoping the Magic lower their asking price to multiple second-rounders, he added.

Ross, 30, has been a true professional in what has become a rebuilding situation in Orlando, acting as a veteran sparkplug off the bench.

That said, he averaged just 10.0 points in 63 games this past season, down nearly six points from the previous year. It was his lowest output since 2017-18.

Back in April, he said he would welcome a trade, though he had not requested one, via Khobi Price of the Orlando Sentinel.

“We’re definitely in different spots,” Ross said. “I feel like I’m a part of that old regime, and they’re going in a different direction. I don’t know what they’ve got in store for me. It’s hard to say. They don’t really let me know too much about what they’re doing. I’m kind of here just along for the ride.”

When asked if he’s seeking a trade, Ross told Price that the Magic are “well aware of that, so there’s no point.”

This follows comments on the Outta Pocket podcast, when he indicated he would prefer to be in a winning situation.

“… I’ve kind of already done that, I’ve been through a few rebuilds already,” Ross said. “I’m 10 years in. Time is kind of going against me at this point, so I don’t really want to stay in another rebuild.”
