'The Last Dance' wins Emmy for best documentary or nonfiction series
"The Last Dance" was one of the most watched sports documentaries of the last decade, and now it has received a pretty special honor.
The 10-part docuseries chronicling the Michael Jordan-led 1997-98 Chicago Bulls took home the Emmy award for most outstanding documentary or nonfiction series. The other nominees were "American Masters," "Hillary," "McMillion," and "Tiger King."
"The Last Dance" featured never before seen footage from Jordan's last championship run. It became the most watched documentary in ESPN history after averaging 6.1 million viewers for the first two episodes.
The series was originally supposed to air in June, but an overwhelming demand from players and fans on social media led producers to release it in April.
