Touted as tournament favorites, the Milwaukee Bucks got off to a hot start in the 2023 NBA Summer League when they racked up two back-to-back wins at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Living up to their lofty pre-tournament billing, the Bucks kicked off their campaign with a 92-85 win over the Denver Nuggets on July 7th.

MarJon takes over

MarJon Beauchamp led the Bucks by piling up 23 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Backing Beauchamp in that win over the Nuggets were Nico Mannion and Jazian Gortman. Mannion recorded 16 points, four boards, three assists, and two steals, while Gortman came off the bench to add 13 points and an assist.

Beauchamp, who was selected by the Bucks as the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, sustained his form when he led the Bucks to a second straight win via an 84-75 come-from-behind win over the Phoenix Suns on July 8th.

Bucks stage big comeback

The 6-foot-7 forward finished with 20 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a block as the Bucks rallied from several double-digit deficits to eke out the hard-earned win.

Milwaukee trailed at the half, 40-50, but clawed back behind a 27-13 run in the third period. Three other Bucks scored in double figures in the victory with Tyler Cook firing 14 points.

Chris Livingston, Milwaukee’s 58th pick in the recent rookie draft, contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while the towering Tacko Fall pitched in 10 points, seven boards, three blocked shots, and a steal.

Andre Jackson Jr., this year’s 36th overall pick, added six points and 11 rebounds.
