The redemption arc for big man Meyers Leonard continues after a report by renowned NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned that the big man will be signed for the rest of the season by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Second shot
After a two-year absence from the NBA, the Bucks gave the 7-footer a shot three weeks ago, signing him to a 10-day deal. A second 10-day deal followed, and when that recently expired, the Bucks deemed Leonard worthy of the rest of the season commitment.
The 30-year-old is grateful for the opportunity to be in the Association once again after a mistake he made while live-streaming a video game nearly cost him his entire career. Leonard was slapped with a suspension and fined $50,000 for muttering an anti-Semitic slur during a Twitch stream. He has since apologized, calling the incident an “ignorant mistake” and the “biggest mistake of my life.”
A solid backup big man
In the six games that he’s played for the Bucks, Leonard is averaging a mere 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in six minutes of action. However, much like any of the current Bucks big men, Leonard strokes it from beyond the arc, shooting 44% from deep.
Leonard began his career with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played seven seasons and averaged 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game. He then got traded to the Miami Heat and averaged 5.9 points and 4.9 boards in 19.7 minutes per game.
