We are only a few weeks into the NBA season which means that a whole lot can change.

Everyone knows that a few good wins, tough losses, and unexpected injuries can completely alter the entire league in a short amount of time.

That is also true for the race for the MVP trophy.

Those who are currently frontrunners might not be in a few months.

In fact, they might not be in a few weeks too – people surge forward and fall backward all the time in the fight for MVP.

Right now, the lineup of MVP contenders is not surprising but it is very competitive and close.

Leading the pack is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, who is ranked at +290.

Behind him is Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics at +390 and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks at +700.

Further down the list are Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies (+1200), Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors (+1300), and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (+1600).

Will these be the players fighting for the award all season long?

No Surprises Here

Antetokounpo, Tatum, and Doncic have come out swinging in 2022, so it’s not shocking to see each of them battling for MVP.

It is a bit more shocking to see Embiid so far down on this list but he still has time to rebound and find more success individually and as a teammate.

Antetokounmpo really is doing some of the most amazing work in the league right now, leading his undefeated Bucks to new heights.

The man looks like someone who doesn’t just want to win MVP again but another championship ring too.

These athletes are going to be duking it out for months – but don’t be surprised if some other names pop up as other players heat up.
