Thunder's Chet Holmgren wows in Summer League debut with 23 points, six blocks

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren made his Summer League debut Tuesday and left fans of the team struggling to temper their expectations.

The 7-footer recorded 23 points in Oklahoma City's 98-77 win against the Utah Jazz, making four 3-pointers. Holmgren also finished with seven rebounds, four assists and six blocks.

Holmgren was the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after starring at Gonzaga for one season. In his lone year of collegiate basketball, he set the Gonzaga record for blocks in a season, averaging 3.7 per game.

While the huge showing against the Jazz was just a Summer League performance, even the mayor of Oklahoma City was feeling excited about Holmgren on Tuesday night.

Also performing well against Utah was 2021 top-10 draft pick Josh Giddy, who scored 14 points with 11 assists and five rebounds.
