The Minnesota Timberwolves have received a ton of trade interest in forward Jaden McDaniels, according to NBA insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

The Timberwolves rebuffed every offer for McDaniels.

“The Wolves received a ton of interest in Jaden McDaniels, league sources say, with teams all over the draft board calling and inquiring on his availability,” Krawczynski wrote. “The Wolves rebuffed every offer, viewing McDaniels as a huge piece of the team’s long-term future.”

McDaniels averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Timberwolves this past season in 79 games while shooting 51.7% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc and 73.6% from the free-throw line.

The Timberwolves can sign McDaniels to a rookie-scale extension this summer. If McDaniels and Minnesota don’t agree to an extension, the 22-year-old will become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2024.

McDaniels punched a wall in frustration on April 9 versus the New Orleans Pelicans and suffered fractures of his third and fourth metacarpals. The Washington product didn’t play in the 7-8 play-in game versus the Los Angeles Lakers and missed the entire 2023 playoffs, where the Timberwolves lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round in five games.

McDaniels will be ready for the 2023-24 season opener after recovering from his hand injury. He and the rest of his teammates will have to be prepared for a strong start next season since the Western Conference will be very rugged.

McDaniels has career averages of 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists with Minnesota. He remains an integral element of what the team seeks to accomplish alongside other foundational talents like Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and Karl-Anthony Towns. His defensive versatility is essential in tying the unit together.
