Makur Maker played in the 2023 NBA Summer League for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Over five games (three in Las Vegas and two in Salt Lake City), he averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 60% from the field.

On Monday, the Toronto Raptors officially announced that they had signed the 22-year-old.

Coming out of high school, Maker was ranked by ESPN as the 16th best player in the class of 2020.

He played two games of college basketball for Howard University and went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft last summer.

This past year, Maker played in the G League for the Capital City Go-Go and averaged 7.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 42.8% from the field and 34.0% from the three-point range in 30 regular season games (he also appeared in 14 Showcase Cup games and two G League playoff games).

Maker is also the cousin of Thon, who was the tenth pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and played five seasons in the league.

As for the Raptors, they are coming off a year where they were the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record.

They lost in the play-in tournament to the Chicago Bulls (at home), so they missed the NBA playoffs.

The franchise won the NBA Championship over Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in 2019 but has only been able to win one playoff series since then.
