Trae Young offers strong take on fan opinions about Luka Doncic debate

Ever since the infamous draft day trade that featured the Dallas Mavericks acquiring Luka Doncic and the Atlanta Hawks winding up with Trae Young, the two players have been compared virtually every step of the way. Whether it's during head-to-head matchups, how their teams finish each season, or their own overall stat lines for a year, a broad range of fans seem to take notice.

This hasn't slowed down as both players continue to play at an exceptionally high level in the NBA, and this topic came up when Young recently joined "The Draymond Green Show" at the UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival. As Bleacher Report revealed in a clip of the conversation, the Hawks star was asked by Green about the "narrative" out there surrounding how Young is compared with Doncic when realistically, the numbers for the two players aren't all that different.

Young had a great response to the topic, offering major praise for Doncic and even discussing their relationship while stating that he doesn't stress that debate anymore but that "the real ones get it." He also believes that a championship will open the eyes of any doubters and dropped a one-liner that certainly stood out.

"I feel like, eventually, people are going to understand what it is and realize that it's not that far off. We kind of do the same things," Young said about Doncic.

For good measure, Green deserves some praise of his own for asking the question, as it's one that remains an interesting topic. It's easy to envision a world where the Golden State Warriors star could have a very bright future in media whenever he wraps up his NBA career.
