The Atlanta Hawks are currently in the market for a new head coach, having fired Nate McMillan with just two months remaining in the season. It has been a disappointing season for Atlanta, a team who currently sits one game below .500 at 29-30. Still with a shot at the playoffs, the Hawks hope a head coaching change can help them get there.

In a recently deleted Instagram post, Hawks star Trae Young posted himself wearing a Steve Nash jersey. Young has spoken openly about being a massive Steve Nash fan, but some have begun speculating if this is Young potentially endorsing the idea of Nash becoming the Hawks next head coach. From all the information that is currently available, it seems very unlikely that this is the case.

As previously mentioned, this post by Young has been deleted. It seems likely that he recognized it was being taken as an endorsement of Nash becoming Atlanta's next head coach, and decided to stop the spread of that idea. Additionally, as also previously mentioned, Young is a massive Steve Nash fan. Wearing the jersey of his favorite player is likely nothing more than that. Because people quickly read further into it, it makes sense why Young would take the post down.

Finally, from Adrian Wojnarowski's ESPN article , the current candidates named for Atlanta's head coaching vacancy did not include Steve Nash. While that does not rule out the former Brooklyn Nets head coach, it seems unlikely that he is being seriously considered. While Trae Young showed love to Nash by sporting his jersey on Instagram, the post likely had nothing to do with Atlanta's head coaching search.
