Trae Young's father: Hawks guard 'loves' being considered a villain at Madison Square Garden

Trae Young will be subject to some harsh treatment from the Madison Square Garden crowd on Wednesday night when the Atlanta Hawks continue their playoff series against the New York Knicks.

However, Young's father says his son "loves" being considered a villain at MSG.

"He loves it," said Rayford Young, according to ESPN. "There's no sensitive bone in his body when it comes to that."

During Game 1, Young put up 32 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists in a 107-105 win. He even hit the game-winning shot with under one second remaining in the contest. After the game, the 22-year-old said he took the boos from the MSG crowd as a "compliment."

According to ESPN Stats and Information, LeBron James is the only other player with 30 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in their postseason debut. He also became the first player to record 30 points and 10 assists in a playoff game at MSG since Michael Jordan did so in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals in 1989.

Young received praise from many basketball fans for his incredible performance, but New York City mayor Bill de Blasio called him out during a press conference on Tuesday.

"Play the game the right way," de Blasio said to Young. "See if you can win. I think the Knicks are going to teach you a lesson."

Game 2 will surely be more emotional than Game 1 as the Knicks look to tie the series before heading to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4. However, it certainly seems like Young won't let a booing crowd slow him down.
