Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic out at least a month with foot injury

A tough season for the Portland Trail Blazers got a little tougher Wednesday when the team revealed that center Jusuf Nurkić will miss at least a month with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Nurkić, 27, has averaged 15.0 points and a career-high 11.1 rebounds per game this season. His 30 double-doubles this season rank eighth in the NBA.

According to the Trail Blazers, Nurkić has put up those numbers despite dealing with symptoms of plantar fasciitis since September. The team says he will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Portland is 10th place in the Western Conference standings with a 25-34 record, although it won four consecutive games before the NBA All-Star Game. Still, the team has been hit with several injuries, including abdominal surgery for Damian Lillard that has kept the Trail Blazers' star out of action since mid-January.

At the trade deadline, Portland traded veteran CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans and shipped Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the Los Angeles Clippers.
