Triangle? That’s old news. These days, the New York Knicks are all about the square, in a manner of speaking.

The Knicks on Tuesday unveiled the advertising patch that will adorn the team’s jerseys throughout the 2017-18 NBA season. In an amusing aside, the choice of sponsor ironically — but presumably coincidentally — takes a potshot at the organizational offensive philosophy previously espoused by former Knicks president Phil Jackson.

The Knicks announced a partnership with Squarespace, a website-publishing platform. Terms were not disclosed.

The Knicks became the 17th NBA team to reach a jersey sponsorship deal with the announcement.

Here’s an additional look on how the patch will appear on the Knicks’ jerseys.

The Knicks organization, via its parent Madison Square Garden Company, will partner with Squarespace to “provide financial support and give digital advertising opportunities to local small businesses that use the website platform,” per an ESPN report.

As noted, while the notion of having “square” as a component of the sponsor’s company name is amusing — given the Zen Master’s stubborn devotion to the triangle offense throughout his doomed tenure with the Knicks — it is nothing more than coincidental aside, not a deliberate rip.

The ad patches will officially debut during the Knicks’ exhibition showdown with the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
