Who’s the NBA GOAT? Is it LeBron James? Is it Michael Jordan? Geotagged Twitter data shows who fans in every state across America think deserves the title.

Hint: It’s not great news for His Airness.

Check out this graphic, which was put together by the NBA guys over at RealBookies.com, using trends software with geotagged Twitter data.

I guess James was right after all.

According to this study, fans in 28 states believe James is the GOAT.

Fans in 22 states still think Jordan is the NBA’s king of kings, though, clearly he does not agree.

Now, some of this is likely recency bias. And some of it might have to do with the fact that more of the younger generation is on social media than the men and women who grew up watching Jordan.

One thing’s clear: James is establishing a legacy that’s certainly worth comparing to Jordan’s, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.
