We knew it was coming. Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets gave it their best shot Monday night, but the absence of Chris Paul, who also was desperately missed in Game 6, doomed this squad. The Warriors hung tough in the first half, absorbing wave after wave of the home team’s offensive momentum and were down by 11 points at halftime.

The second half belonged to Golden State. Stephen Curry came alive. Kevin Durant did, too. The Warriors outscored the Rockets 33-15 in the third quarter and went on to win by the final score of 101-92.

Now, after three rounds of NBA playoff action, we’re right back where we started one year ago. And the year before that. And the year before that. The Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are going to the NBA Finals, for the fourth consecutive season.

Social media had some great reactions to this result, which we should have all seen coming (even though the Boston Celtics and Rockets tricked us into believing something else was possible).
