Paul George is the recipient of high praise from his coach Ty Lue. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Ty Lue is no stranger to speaking openly and honestly about his players.

It was more of the same this week, following his team’s big victory over the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Lue went into great detail about how Kawhi Leonard’s current minutes situation is messing up his squad’s flow, but that wasn’t the only interesting commentary he offered.

As noted by Farbod Esnaashari of SI Now, Lue sees some notable similarities between his two biggest stars and Kobe Bryant, and he wasn’t shy to share.

“I think with Kawhi, just the mid range,” he said.

“With PG just the build and athleticism. … Couple things are the same, but there’s a lot of differences as well.”

George has been the subject of a lot of criticism and has a tendency to irritate both players and fans.

As such, George being compared to a beloved great such as Bryant earned some pushback from various circles.

Nevertheless – it’s easy to see what point Lue was trying to make, and it really isn’t that big of a deal at all.
